Introduction & Weight Loss Meal Prep Basics (0:38)

As you probably know, your meal plan is the foundation of your weight loss results. Because weight loss starts in the kitchen, and no amount of exercise or cardio can fix a bad diet. But a big mistake a lot of guys make is that they focus way too much on things like cutting out carbs or fats entirely when really we want to create a lifestyle plan that you can use for life.

How to Approach Creating a Weight Loss Meal Plan (1:18)

From helping over 10,000 men over 40 lose over 75,000 lbs of fat, we’ve found that the best way to approach a sustainable weight loss meal plan is by looking at these 4 categories. They’re your go-to-foods in the categories of proteins, carbs, fats, and veggies. Because once you have around 3 healthy choices that you actually enjoy in each category, it becomes much easier to create your weight loss meals and plate combinations.

The Best Proteins for Weight Loss Meal Prep (2:22)

Proteins are incredibly important for your weight loss diet. Not only do they help your body maintain the muscle that boosts your metabolism, but they’re also the best at keeping our body full. So if you find yourself fighting hunger regularly throughout the day, it’s likely you could use more protein.

If you don’t want to worry about calculating your own protein targets, try this free plan here:

Here are some of our protein choices for a weight loss meal plan:
– Wild Alaskan Salmon
– Free-Range Chicken
– Grass-Fed Ground Beef
– Organic Turkey
– Free Range Eggs
– Tofu

There are more options out there, but make sure they’re organic and from a quality source since our goal here is health. And stay away from protein sources high in fat or sugar (some protein bars).

The Best Carbs for Weight Loss Meal Prep (4:08)

We believe it’s important to include carbs in your weight loss meal plan. For one, we want to get you on a diet that you can stick to over the long haul (one that doesn’t cut out entire food groups). And two, carbs can be very useful in terms of providing some additional energy for things like your weight loss workouts.

Here are some of our favorite carb choices for a fat loss meal plan:
– Quinoa
– Rice
– Sweet potatoes

The Best Fats for Weight Loss Meal Prep (6:16)

Again, fats are not something we want to eliminate from our weight loss diet. They can help manage our good cholesterol, boost our testosterone, and even improve our brain function. And many protein foods will naturally contain healthy fats in them, but there may be days where you will want to supplement with additional fat sources.

Here are some of our favorite fat choices for a weight loss meal plan:
– Avocado
– Nuts & Seeds (Almonds, Walnuts, Hemp seeds, etc…)
– Extra Virgin Olive Oil

The Best Veggies for Weight Loss Meal Prep (7:16)

When it comes to veggies, there aren’t really any bad choices. But anything organic that you can prepare in bulk or quickly add to the side of a meal (like a salad mix) is going to be your best bet.

How to Make Your Weight Loss Meals- Perfect Plates (8:06)

Now that we’ve looked at some food choices for a weight loss meal plan, let’s quickly cover how to combine them into meals. And to make things very simple for you, we recommend using a strategy we call perfect plates to make portion and calorie control easy.
